| Cinema Novo is proud to present its Fall 2008 film lineup. This semester’s film program includes tales of thievery, B-boys, politically charged cartoons, pet zombies, Koreans eaten alive by a monster, lots o Francais, and much more! Cinema Novo showcases cutting edge, foreign, independent and art films in 35mm format. Films are selected by a panel of film experts. Cinema Novo is made possible through a grant provided by the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Cinema Novo Films will show at the UTEP Union Cinema on Fridays and Saturdays during the semester (excluding football weekends). Tickets for each film are $2 for non-UTEP Students and $1 for UTEP students. Tickets will be sold prior to each film at the UTEP Union Cinema. All showings are at 7 p.m. For more information, please call 915.747.5481.

Approximately 2 hrs. This afternoon's matinee will be hosted and sponsored by the New Mexico Film Office, and will feature screenings of the winner's of the 2008 edition of the New Mexico Filmmakers Showcase competition which was held this past summer in Albuquerque. Films to be screened include:
TIME ASSASSINS, A DAY IN HEAVEN, SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND, A RETURN HOME and UNDERWAY. |

| Bracero Stories |

There will be a screening of the completed "Bracero Stories" video documentary (56:00 mins) on Thursday, September 25, at 6:00 P.M., at the UTEP Union Cinema. It's a free event and open to the public. I hope you can be there.
This event is being co-sponsored by the UTEP Department of Communication and the UTEP Chicana/o Studies Program, and is part of the Hispanic Heritage Celebration 2008 schedule of events.
"Bracero Stories" is sponsored by the UTEP Department of Communication, with partial funding from Humanities Texas.

| SXSW Film Announces 2009 Festival Call for Entries |

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival is thrilled to announce its "Call for Entries" for the 2009 event, taking place March 13-21, 2009 in Austin, Texas. In addition, the
SXSW Film Festival has announced the winners for the 5th annual SXSWclick Festival, presented by Boston University Department of Film and Television.
The SXSW 2009 "Call for Entries" is now open. Filmmakers are invited to submit their new works to the annual festival, which has become an international destination for cinematic discovery. Submissions can only be entered via the official SXSW Web site: http://sxsw.com/film. Complete
submission rules and regulations are available on that site. The early deadline for submissions is November 14, 2008 and the final deadline is December 12, 2008. SXSW considers any and all categories of filmmaking, from Narrative to Documentary, Experimental to Music Video, Short to Feature. The festival will announce its complete film lineup in early February 2009. |

Local filmmakers Chris Hernandez, Ornella Jaramillo and their friend Tom just completed a great looking music video. It's done with only still photography and was shot in El Paso, TX. The band's name is Gruis Spectra and is the second music video we do for them. It´s on youTube, hope you like it. |

EpFilm would like to announce, The Good, The Bad, The Indie Volume 5 will not be held this fall, but will instead be moving to summer 2009. As many of you know, we have struggled with weather issues the past couple of years, so we hoping our new date will help our annual event continue to grow. We look forward to the new summer edition of GBI and look forward to having another great event. |
